Keeping it local

We're passionate about sharing our beautiful home town of Stony Stratford and nothing makes us happier than helping visitors discover it's hidden gems. With our background in design, transforming this historic stable into a contemporary living space has been a real labour of love. We've carefully curated every detail, blending modern comfort with original features while having a bit of fun along the way.

Look closely during your stay and you'll spot our playful nods to the equestrian heritage - from subtle artwork to quirky decorative touches that tell the story of this former stable block. It's our way of keeping the building's 1830 spirit alive while creating a space that feels both unique and welcoming.

Minimising our footprint

Throughout our renovation, sustainability was key. By choosing local suppliers wherever possible we were able to minimise our impact. The carpet and tiles came from local independents and most of the furniture is vintage or upcycled. The daybed was upcycled from a table, the timber beneath the floor was repurposed into window shutters, the headboard was crafted using the skirting boards and the plant stand was made from off cuts. All paint and wax used contain minimal VOCS, the ensuite flooring is an eco-friendly alternative to vinyl and the kitchen floorboards are made from timber sourced from some of the world’s most protected trees. Even the finer details reflect our ethos. Our linen duvet covers are GMO free and made with certified European Flax. But, it doesn't stop there. We use a 'Closed Loop System' to manage the housekeeping. This means we use a refill scheme for our cleaning supplies, so we will never use single use plastics to clean. It's all part of our commitment to a more sustainable way of hosting.
